Rechargeable Insect Killer Lantern

from £17.00

These lanterns are great to keep in your van to fight the insects! First click of the button on top activates the insect killer mode, where a blue UV light is emitted which attracts insects, when then get zapped by a 900volt grid - with most insects this is silent. Press the button again and it works as an LED lantern, just as a light only, and you can dim it by twisting the button round. Press the button for a third time and it works as both a lantern and an insect killer, and again can be dimmed. Recharges via USB just like a phone.

Does it work? We’ve been away on a Welsh campsite surrounded by woods with a river flowing past, so plenty of midges and larger insects buzzing about in the evenings. It’s worked a treat - first night here and the ceiling light in our van was covered in insects, as we’d had the windows open with no mesh, so I switched the lantern on when we went to bed. It does a emit a soft blue light, which didn’t disturb us but might do for some. It worked a treat - come the morning the grid inside had zapped plenty of midges, I just took it outside and blew them away, it was easy to clean. A picture of the “death toll” is attached!

Nice compact size, approximately 170mm high with the hanger (just under 7”) by 100mm in diameter (just under 4”). Battery life depends on how you use it, 8 to 16 hours claimed, certainly plenty to last all night as an insect killer. Takes around 3 hours to fully charge. Ideal to use with one of our awning hooks if you want to hang it from the front rail of your wind-out awning, so we offer that as an option

See the video below to see it in use.
